Sadie Winkelstein is a Brooklyn-based visual artist and arts professional. She holds a B.A. in Studio Art and Psychology with a minor in Art History from Oberlin College and studied abroad at the Santa Reparata International School for the Arts in Florence, Italy.

Her work examines interpersonal and institutional power structures, with a particular focus on the relationship between queerness and Christianity. Drawing from the iconography of Italian Renaissance painting and contemporary portraiture, her paintings aim to both critique and celebrate how queerness intersects with sacred art and religious traditions. Her style is deeply influenced by the work of her late grandmother, Barbara Winkelstein. Drawing from materials preserved within her collection, she hopes to continue Barbara's legacy through her own work.

Sadie's practice has been supported through institutional grants, commissions, and creative opportunities, including the 2025 Robertson LGBTQ+ Arts Project Grant and a commission from the Oberlin College Alumni Association for its 2025 Distinguished Service Award. These forms of support have allowed her to sustain her studio practice and pursue new work following graduation.

Alongside her studio practice, Sadie works as a gallery attendant at BRIC Arts & Media and a commercial artist at Father & Finn.
